8th Grade Torrance Police Dept. Essay Contest

8th Grade Essay Contest

Our Torrance Police Department is holding their Annual Torrance Police Department Appreciation Lunch and Awards Ceremony on Thursday, March 30th at 12pm, and the Department would like an 8th grade student from a Torrance school to lead the Pledge of Allegiance during the ceremony. Jefferson would be honored to have one of our 8th grade students lead the Pledge at this ceremony and will hold a competition between our eighth grade students who would like to be part of the Awards Ceremony. We would like each interested 8th grade student to submit an essay (a few short paragraphs) on the topic: Definition of a Hero, to our school office by Friday, February 3, 2017 at 4pm. JMS will then choose a student essay to move forward and submit to the Torrance Police Department Awards Committee for judging. The selected student author is to be of good standing, with good grades, and capable of reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in front of a large audience. The TPD Awards Committee will then review each submitted students’ essays and select who will be a part of the ceremony. Both the final selected student and a parent will be invited to attend the TPD luncheon.
